Case Studies in Capnography:
So much more than ventilation

Accreditation:

This program is approved for 1.0 Contact hour for Nurses and Respiratory Therapists. After watching the webinar, you may go to https://www.saxetesting.com/sl and register to take the test. Once you have successfully completed the test, you may print out your certificate immediately.

Description:

Capnography provides continuous, dynamic assessment of the ventilatory status of patients. This modality can be a helpful monitoring adjunct as a marker of ventilation in patients with ventilation/perfusion (V/aQ) matching. Historically, the challenge in interpretation of capnography values has been in patients experiencing V/Q mismatch, specifically patients with pneumonia, ARDS, pulmonary embolism, low cardiac output states and cardiac arrest. This webinar will provide various challenging clinical situations and how capnography can be interpreted and applied to improve outcomes.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

  1. Discuss case examples of normal and abnormal V/Q relationships

  2. Describe capnography as an indicator of fluid responsiveness

  3. Discuss the integration of capnography into resuscitation
